Die Schaufensterausstellung SCHAUVIER widmet sich im Juni und Juli 2024 dem Thema des Leerstands. Ehemals zweckgebundene Räume stehen verlassen da und erinnern uns an das Fehlen dessen, was existierte und was möglicherweise in der Zukunft auf uns wartet. Leerstand im ländlichen Raum spiegelt wider, was gesellschaftlich schmerzt: den Verlust an Gemeinschaft und sozialer Interaktion. Doch möchten wir den Blick auf diese Leerstellen erweitern. Sie sollen nicht nur als Mangel betrachtet werden, sondern vielmehr als Orte, die Raum für Reflexion, Interpretation und Gedanken schaffen. Die Leere wird hier zum Potential, das darauf wartet, mit neuen Impulsen gefüllt zu werden. Leerstand wird somit zu einer Zeit der Neuorientierung, in der wir ungenutztes Potenzial mit frischem Leben füllen können. Die Entscheidung, welche Inhalte diesen Raum gestalten, liegt bei uns. Der Verein „ent“ lädt Künstler*innen aller Sparten herzlich dazu ein, sich mit dieser Bedeutungsverschiebung öffentlicher und halböffentlicher Räume auseinanderzusetzen. Die Ausstellung SCHAUVIER hat das Ziel, nicht nur das Bewusstsein für den „sozialen Leerstand“ zu schärfen, sondern auch einen neuen Raum für Gemeinschaft und Diskurs zu schaffen.
Der Verein ent – Verein zur Förderung von Kunst und Kultur im ländlichen Raum hat im Juli 2022 die Räumlichkeiten im Zentrum von Stadt Haag bezogen und bespielt die Schaufenster der Kunst- und Kulturwerkstatt ent derzeit mit zwei Ausstellungen jährlich. Mit der SCHAUVIER freuen wir uns nun auf die vierte Ausstellung innerhalb dieses Formats.
Als ehemaliges Handelszentrum der Region spielte der Ortskern von Stadt Haag historisch eine wichtige Rolle, besonders auch durch seiner Nähe zu Steyr und Linz. Das Haus, in dem der Verein neue Räumlichkeiten beziehen konnte, hat eine lange Tradition. Ursprünglich als Stall gebaut, beherbergte es seit Jahrzehnten ein Kleidergeschäft und in den 1960er Jahren auch einen Friseursalon. Nach einer sechsmonatigen Renovierungsphase konnte das Vereinslokal 2022 eröffnet werden. Ziel ist es, einen Ort zu schaffen, der regionale Kunst- und Kulturentwicklung und den Zugang zu zeitgenössischer Kunst abseits von Ballungsräumen ermöglicht.
Im Ausstellungsbetrieb liegt das Hauptaugenmerk auf der großflächigen „Schaufenstergalerie“, die im Rahmen der Ausstellungen jeweils sechs Wochen lang bespielt wird. Die Ausstellungen sind rund um die Uhr sichtbar, Passant*innen können die Ausstellung jederzeit besuchen und sind, wenn das Vereinslokal besetzt ist, herzlich eingeladen einzutreten.
Die diesjährige Ausschreibung zur Bespielung der „Schaufenstergalerie“ richtet sich an Künstler*innen aller Sparten, sowohl an Einzelkünstlerinnen als auch an Gruppen. Gesucht werden zwei bis vier Arbeiten, die sich mit den örtlichen Gegebenheiten auseinandersetzen und sich dem Themenbereich des Leerstands widmen.
Die Auswahl der eingereichten Arbeiten wird durch eine interne Jury des Vereins sowie einer Gastkuratorin durchgeführt. Pro Position können wir ein Honorar in der Höhe von € 450,- brutto inkl. Transportkosten zur Verfügung stellen. Produktionskosten (Material) werden nach Bedarf und finanziellen Spielraum des Vereins übernommen. Hier kann die genaue Höhe allerdings erst nach Erhalt aller Förderzusagen fixiert werden. Die endgültigen finanziellen Bedingungen werden transparent und zeitgerecht kommuniziert.
Im beigefügten Plan finden sich die Abmessungen der Schaufenster und der zu bespielenden Fläche. Das ent ist öffentlich mit dem Zug erreichbar, der Bahnhof Stadt Haag liegt nur einen 10-minütigen Fußweg entfernt.

This is the TextThe shop window exhibition SCHAUVIER will dedicate itself to the theme of vacancy in June and July 2024. Formerly purpose-bound spaces stand abandoned, reminding us of the absence of what once existed and what may await us in the future. Vacancy in rural areas reflects societal pain: the loss of community and social interaction. However, we aim to broaden the perspective on these vacant spaces. They should not merely be seen as deficiencies but rather as domains that create space for reflection, interpretation, and thoughts. The emptiness transforms into potential, eagerly awaiting to be filled with new impulses. Vacancy becomes a time of reorientation, where untapped potential can be filled with fresh vitality. The decision on which contents shape this space lies with us. The association „ent“ warmly invites artists from all disciplines to engage with this shift in the significance of public and semi-public spaces. The SCHAUVIER exhibition aims not only to raise awareness of „social vacancy“ but also to create a new space for community and discourse.
The association „ent“ – Association for the Promotion of Art and Culture in Rural Areas, relocated to the premises in the center of Stadt Haag in July 2022. Currently, the association showcases the shop windows of the art and cultural workshop „ent“ with two exhibitions annually. With SCHAUVIER, we are now excited about the fourth exhibition within this format.
As a former commercial hub of the region, the town center of Stadt Haag historically played a significant role, especially due to its proximity to Steyr and Linz. The building in which the association found new premises has a long tradition. Originally constructed as a stable, it housed a clothing store for decades and, in the 1960s, a hair salon. Following a six-month renovation phase, the association‘s venue was opened in 2022. The goal is to create a space that facilitates regional art and cultural development, providing access to contemporary art away from urban centers.
In the exhibition operation, the main focus lies on the expansive „shop window gallery,“ which is utilized for six weeks during each exhibition. The exhibitions are visible around the clock, allowing passersby to visit at any time. They are warmly invited to enter when the association‘s venue is open.
This year‘s call for entries to exhibit in the „shop window gallery“ is open to artists of all disciplines, both individual artists and groups. We are looking for two to four works that engage with the local context and focus on the theme of vacancy.
The selection of submitted works will be carried out by an internal jury of the association and an invited curator. For each position, we can provide a artist fee of € 450 gross, including transportation costs. Production costs (materials) will be covered based on the needs and financial capacity of the association. The exact amount can only be determined after receiving all funding commitments. The final financial conditions will be communicated transparently and in a timely manner.
